When her term as dean at the Faculty of Education and Arts ends, Rose Martin will step into a professorship with responsibility for internationalisation.
She will work closely with the rectorate and will formally be placed under the Pro‑Rector for Education.
Rose Martin has led the development of Nord University’s internationalisation strategy, which was adopted last year, and she has wide-ranging experience with internationalisation in both research and education.
“We are pleased that the board has decided to make use of Martin’s expertise in a strategically important position for Nord University going forward,” says Acting Rector Levi Gårseth‑Nesbakk.
It was during the most recent board meeting that the Nord University board decided to appoint Rosemary Kate Martin to this position.
Martin’s role will be to help develop and coordinate Nord University’s participation in international alliances and networks, particularly SEA‑EU, Arctic Six, and UArctic.
A key task will be supporting academic environments in realising their international ambitions. The position also involves contact with EU stakeholders, representing Nord University and the rectorate, and initiating and following up applications for external funding — much of which depends on extensive international collaboration.
“I look forward to contributing to the development of internationalisation efforts at Nord University. But first, I will continue the development processes already underway at the Faculty of Education and Arts”, Martin says.
